A hackathon that took us out to sea with Andromède Océanologie!
In early February, more than 110 students took part in a special Bachelor and intensive cycle Bachelor hackathon — an intensive, fully online challenge.
Andromède Océanologie x Digital Campus
The suspense was short-lived, as students had the pleasure of discovering the client partner through a video format!
The partner was Andromède Océanologie, an innovative company that carries out all types of projects related to the study and promotion of the marine environment.
The project focused on redesigning the Donia application, which allows sailors, divers, fishers and all sea lovers to share information while contributing to the protection of sensitive marine ecosystems, in compliance with the law. The app notably helps locate posidonia — a seagrass essential to stabilising the seabed that is often uprooted by anchors. It offers an enhanced cartographic display integrating the nature of the seabed, bathymetry, maritime regulations, satellite images, points of interest, and numerous specific sites (dive sites, ports, anchorages, underwater photographs, user observations).
The students began their brainstorming sessions to address the needs of the Andromède Océanologie team, guided by their teachers and coaches:
- Sébastien Cambon, trainer and coach in project management and marketing
- Yohan Tournadre, web development instructor
- Violaine Alvarez, UX/UI design instructor
- Lucie Delplanque, academic director and communication coach
Once the work was completed and polished, the teams were able to attend the students' pitches, which revealed the creative directions of their projects, before deliberations began…
Florian Holon, Managing Director, and Sylvie Jaumes, Project Manager, were pleasantly surprised both by the quality and the volume of work produced by the ten student groups.
The deliberation was challenging; however, group 2 stood out for its innovative approach and original proposals — a feat that earned them a diving baptism at the Andromède club!
We would like to once again thank the Andromède Océanologie team for their involvement and trust in this educational project, and we look forward to navigating the new interface!
