Born alongside the question of human-computer interaction, the UX designer has become one of the central professions in the digital world.
For over 10 years, we have been training students in UX design from the second year onwards through to the final year, for all profiles — work-study students and professionals alike — with very high company placement rates.
Type "UX designer" on Indeed in the Paris region and you'll find over 650 active job listings. With an average UX designer salary of €44,000, it is one of the most in-demand jobs in Paris. UX design did not become one of the key professions on the web overnight. In just over 20 years, every industry has transformed its relationship with users by shifting from physical to digital — and logically, an understanding of user behavior has become central to all digital professions.
Every customer journey, every interface, every action on an application or website calls upon the skills of UX designers. Being a UX designer means understanding what users, customers, internet users, young people — in short, every profile with their own specific needs — expects from an interface.
For online businesses, the challenge is to offer the best possible customer experience. A successful interface means an optimal customer journey: studying user psychology, identifying bugs, spotting conversion blockers that prevent visitors from becoming customers, and designing a pathway that will boost sales and revenue without undermining customer satisfaction.
UX designers are increasingly finding their place not only in agencies — which can no longer do without them — but also in large corporations that have set up dedicated digital departments, such as Air France. As a sign confirming this trend, 69% of UX Designers hold employee status. The UX designer acts as the link between marketing teams (thanks to their understanding of the user), design (working alongside UI design to conceptualize the interface), and web development (since the proper functioning of applications and services falls within their quality responsibilities). They are therefore versatile, able to coordinate dedicated teams, and often take on a management role (source: Designerintercatif.org)
According to the survey conducted in 2019 by Aquent and Designers Interactifs, the profession is becoming increasingly female (42% of UX designers are women) and is concentrated in Paris (69%), with half holding a master's-level degree (bac+5). Although agencies remain the primary home for UX design, more and more companies are integrating the role directly within their teams — and some, like Air France, have even created a dedicated department. A further sign of this trend: 69% of UX Designers have employee status.
As you can see, UX design is a central profession in the growth of the digital industry, and the number of positions to be filled will remain high in the years to come. At Digital Campus Paris, we have been training UX designers for over 10 years, ever since the discipline became indispensable — particularly for designing mobile applications.
