In 2020, Digital Campus is strengthening its Tech programme through its Dev Lab and opening 2 new curricula:
- 1 Bachelor in Web Development over 3 years, accessible after the Baccalauréat, with direct entry into year 3 possible for students with a Bac +2 in digital or computer science
- 1 Master's in Web Development over 2 years, accessible after a Bac +3 in digital or computer science
Digital Campus is today recognised for its expertise in training digital project managers, web marketers, digital strategists, UX designers, video and motion designers, UI specialists, brand content creators and data analysts. Our students, programme coordinators and business partners are already aware of our school's strong potential to produce excellent Tech professionals. It is for all these reasons that we are launching this new programme today.
The Bachelor in Web Development structures its pedagogy around 7 teaching units: culture, design, development, marketing, communication, project management and professionalisation. Of course, the most important teaching unit is web development, with progressive modules from year 1 to 3 covering web/CMS integration, web and mobile applications, computer applications and technical engineering. You will be trained in a wide range of tools and languages: HTML CSS, Javascript jQuery, WordPress CMS, PHP, Python, Drupal, algorithms, data architecture, security, system administration, machine learning, React.js, etc. The great strength of this Bachelor is its combination of Tech expertise, design, communication tools and project management. Always in a Digital Change Makers mindset, students will work on real projects brought by our partners — businesses, institutions and associations — with a commitment to doing, doing well and doing with purpose. You will also receive public speaking training and have access to numerous elective courses on our DC Learn e-learning platform.
Work-study (alternance) is available from year 2 of the Bachelor.
Many companies are already waiting to welcome you into their teams for a variety of roles:
- Front-end or back-end developer,
- Full-stack developer,
- Web developer,
- Mobile application developer,
- Web integrator,
- Tech project manager
- Creative developer…
The Master's in Web Development organises its pedagogy around the same 7 teaching units as the Bachelor. However, the skills to be acquired are quite different. While the Bachelor focuses primarily on technical skills and project management, the Master's allows expert students to advance their technical skills through deeper mastery of languages (object-oriented PHP, Android Java, Python, Javascript/TypeScript…) and tools, as well as developing strategic, pedagogical and managerial competencies.
The Lead Tech is someone who holds deep technical expertise while raising the skill level of their entire team towards excellence and mastery — leading by example and striving to make their team autonomous. They are a decision-maker within the company. They identify new business opportunities through technological innovation. They can code, manage teams, provide advice and conduct technical audits. They take on CTO-level responsibilities.
Their mission is:
- To drive the innovation of information systems for their clients — whether internal or external — in terms of web, mobile and computer development, from defining the technical strategy to evaluating the outcomes of their recommendations, including overseeing the development process.
- To manage the various technical stakeholders throughout the project.
- To ensure best practices in security and legal compliance throughout the lifecycle of the chosen information system.
The key competencies for this role are:
- Driving the innovation of a digital system.
- Steering and supervising the web, mobile and computer development of secure applications.
- Auditing, developing a strategy for the deployment of a technological infrastructure.
- Managing technical teams and leading change.
Both years of the Master's can be completed as work-study (alternance).
In this Dev Lab, part of the Tech programme, you will find the best of our lecturers, sponsors, partners and tools at your disposal to become and remain a competent and responsible professional.
- Learning how to learn and learning how to teach are core principles at Digital Campus and are extensively embedded in both curricula. Our students learn to train themselves throughout their careers and to pass on their knowledge and skills to their teams, companies and clients.
- Becoming a digital professional comes with major responsibilities for our society, economy and planet. This is why the "responsible digital" dimension will be addressed across all subjects in both the Bachelor and the Master's, through courses, projects, workshops, conferences and certifications.
As a reminder, the Labs are the 3 programmes of Digital Campus and resource centres for our 3 areas of expertise:
- Design Lab
- Development Lab
- Marketing Lab
True melting pots where trends emerge, expertise is shared and talent grows. It is within the Labs that the best of each area of digital expertise takes shape.
DC LAB how it works – Each Lab:
- Has a national coordinator
- Is supported by a sponsor
- Provides numerous dedicated projects
- Maintains and shares a sector-specific watch and communications resource
- Offers a calendar of conferences from its field, available to all campuses
- Maintains an up-to-date pedagogical resource centre based on the network's e-learning catalogue
- Has its own skills committee, made up of experts
- A dedicated room on the DC Learn digital platform
