Michel James, a third-year Bachelor student, shares his inspiring journey and the projects he created at Digital Campus in Toulouse.

From standout projects and support in securing his work-study placement at CreaSila, to advice for future students, Michel shares his journey and professional aspirations.

Why Digital Campus?

I chose this school because I am deeply passionate about web professions, particularly video and Motion Design.

"What I enjoy most about my programme is the hands-on side and the projects — I prefer working with software and trying out different formats over sitting through lectures. I also love the atmosphere and how approachable the instructors are; they genuinely share their passion during classes."

- Michel James

Can you give an example of a project you completed at Digital Campus?

The project that left the biggest impression on me was my first video editing project. I knew nothing about the discipline and didn't have a powerful enough PC, yet I managed to produce a great video I was proud of — one that everyone loved — even though it was my very first time.

Which company are you doing your work-study placement with?

I am doing my work-study placement at CreaSila, a company that provides support and coaching for business leaders. They produce video content and training programmes for entrepreneurs.

How did Digital Campus support you in finding your work-study placement?

I was supported in my search thanks to the LinkedIn group, which had a lot of posted job offers. There were also regular check-ins to see how my search was going, and advice from Coralie, our training adviser.

What are your responsibilities?

My responsibilities include producing videos from filming through to editing, creating thumbnails for training courses and YouTube, as well as writing descriptions using my SEO skills. I also create Reels for Instagram.

Any advice for current or future Digital Campus students?

My advice would be: don't be afraid of projects even if you feel you don't have the skills yet, because you're there to learn and projects are designed for practising; ask questions and seek help when you need it, as the instructors are not traditional teachers and are always ready to help or give you feedback so you can improve. And above all, stay curious and keep up with new tools ;)

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years, I see myself working as a freelancer, taking on assignments for production or communications companies that need videos or dynamic motion design.
