Introducing one of our former students and a closer look at her project…

From Digital Campus to YouTube, Léa has known how to seize opportunities in order to grow her network and get closer to France's leading content creators, including Pierre Croce.

Who are you?

My name is Léa REIS, I live in Lyon and I have been a content creator for over a year. I created my YouTube channel called comUnity as well as an Instagram account @com.u.nity, where I share content from my everyday life.

What kind of content can we find on your accounts?

My YouTube channel focuses on creative challenges, such as logo design, clothing creation in Animal Crossing, or pottery. I also share travel vlogs.

My Instagram account, on the other hand, is mainly centred on my travels. I share my best photos as well as monthly recaps in the form of Reels.

How long have you wanted to become a content creator?

When I started at Digital Campus in the Preparatory Year, I already had the idea of launching my YouTube channel, but I was a bit lost about how to do it and, above all, I did not know how to use software like Premiere Pro or After Effects. So I waited until I had more knowledge before taking the plunge.

YouTube had been on your mind for a while. What finally pushed you to actually go for it?

Knowing myself, without a concrete project, I can quickly move on to something else. So I decided to create my YouTube channel when I felt comfortable developing different types of video projects (challenges, vlogs, group videos…), thanks to the Grands Projets as well as the Hackathons I took part in during my 3 years at Digital Campus.

I gained a great deal of knowledge during my training at Digital Campus, particularly in the use of software needed for video editing. All of these skills have proved useful in my professional life as well as in the creation of my YouTube channel.

We heard you landed an incredible opportunity! Tell us a little about how it all happened.

At Digital Campus, I learned to seize opportunities — but above all, to create them! Last year, I felt the need to learn more about how a YouTube shoot works for large-scale projects, particularly in terms of managing participants and logistics. So I applied — without much conviction — to a post by Maison Grise, Pierre Croce's agency, which was looking for 100 girls for a YouTube video. And I was selected!

So, how did it go?

I took part in the shoot! I got to discover what goes on behind the scenes, pick up a few tips, and above all chat with the team, who were extremely open to conversation. I came away from this first experience delighted and with even more knowledge about the world of video.

And after that first opportunity, what happened next?

After that first appearance in a Pierre Croce video, I filled in a questionnaire via a Maison Grise post aimed at small content creators. A few months later, I received an email from the agency's production coordinator letting me know I had been selected for a casting, where we had to present a video and tell one true anecdote and one false one.

Weeks went by, and then I received a phone call saying they would like to do a camera test in Paris… It was absolutely not a test — it was actually the filming of the first video, which came out that Thursday 25 May!

Incredible! And then what?

Out of more than 1,000 applications, I am among the 18 creators selected for this competition. The next stage is the voting phase, which takes place after the video is released, from Thursday 25 May to Sunday 28 May!

The 10 creators who receive the most votes will win their ticket to Biarritz for a week of filming. That would be an incredible opportunity for me and my project !

Any final words?

I would like to thank everyone who has followed and supported me throughout this adventure, as well as Digital Campus Lyon, which is backing a project unlike anything ever done before in France!
