Discover the portrait of Alex, a first-year Bachelor Project Manager student at DC Rennes. He shares his first steps at the school, his surprises, the people he has met, and his passions.
“The first thing I felt during my first year at Digital Campus was relief and joy.
I very quickly realised that the alumni hadn’t lied when they told us that joining ‘DC’ would feel like being part of a family.
Just a few weeks into the term, the whole team and instructors recognised us in the corridors, greeted us, and knew our names”
First of all, the real-world projects! From the very first year, we work with actual companies that bring us concrete projects. I think it’s a great opportunity to build my portfolio and it will help me for my end-of-year internship. For example, I had a communications project to complete for Basilic and Co’, a pizzeria in Rennes that I go to all the time. We had to develop a communications strategy for the brand in small groups.
Speaking of the internship, since October I have been meeting regularly with our industry relations managers Marie and Audrey, who help me refine my CV and cover letter to give me the best possible chance of landing my dream company. The internship will also allow me to build connections for my future, gain experience in the professional world, and put into practice what I have learned in class.
And finally, the instructors! They all work professionally on the side — as consultants, freelance trainers, in agencies or in companies. When you hear what they do alongside the classes they teach, it’s impressive; it feels like they have a thousand lives. How can you not be invested when you have passionate and inspiring trainers? You can reach out to them at any time for their take on a project. They make you want to learn a little more every day and encourage you to keep improving.
Since joining DC Rennes, my daily life has really changed compared to my years in secondary school. Instructors mix theory and practice during classes. It’s much more dynamic and I learn things I can apply straight away!
There are also the Digitimes (moments where you can meet digital industry professionals) that the school organises. Those are really great because they give us the chance to meet professionals who are happy to share their experiences! On top of that, the people who come are genuinely interesting! For example, the next guest will be a TikToker who will explain how he launched his brand and how TikTok helped give his products more visibility. In previous years, the school welcomed the Twitch streamer ‘64’, a video game specialist. The school also takes part in events such as the Digitale Tech Conférence. This year, I had a front-row seat at the talks.
"When I graduate from Digital Campus,
I know I’ll be a real ‘Swiss army knife’ for my company,
because we cover a wide range of subjects such as web design,
social media, communications, and development."
Whenever possible, the team organises social gatherings so we can come together. To help us get to know each other in class during the very first week of term, we had a big get-together with snacks! We also got to chat with the admin team and get to know them a little better.
And to help us get to know the other DC students, there was a big integration day featuring an escape game across the city of Rennes. It was fantastic and it let me discover some hidden corners of the city.
There is also a brand-new student union (BDE) full of energy! With the Halloween party and the Christmas raffle, they quickly showed us the kind of atmosphere we could expect throughout the year! I have absolutely no regrets about choosing Digital Campus for my further studies — I feel great there as a student, but also as a person.
