Digital Campus Montpellier wanted to raise students' awareness of road safety through fun and original activities.

April 6, 2016 was dedicated to helping students from the Montpellier digital school discover the effects of drink driving on the body.

A car simulated the rotating motion of a vehicle rolling over — the type of accident commonly known as a rollover — and volunteers could take a seat in both the front and rear. Nearby, a driving simulation proved particularly popular with students, both for the entertainment it provided and for the opportunity to unwind between classes.

Beyond the activity itself, the rollover car gave students the opportunity to share innovative ideas for modernising road safety. They suggested using virtual reality headsets inside the vehicle to allow as many people as possible to experience the simulation., Among the other activities on offer, special glasses were provided to replicate the visual effects of alcohol consumption. These glasses reproduced the progressive visual distortions experienced at different levels of intoxication, varying according to each individual's tolerance to alcohol, while still effectively illustrating the potential distortions caused by the rapid intake of various alcoholic drinks., This event was an opportunity to raise awareness of the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and irresponsible behaviour on the road (such as not wearing a seatbelt), while offering engaging and fun activities — all the more timely given that the event took place just a few days before the school's end-of-year gala!
