Hackathon Bordeaux x La Bulle Verte — a "Bullathon" to challenge our Master's students. Digital Campus Bordeaux and La Bulle Verte join forces for the return of in-person hackathons.
On 13 September 2021, the very first hackathon of the year took place for our first-year Master's students in Digital Strategy. A great way to prepare them for what the next two years have in store in terms of projects, while also helping them build connections right from the start of the academic year.
For this inaugural edition of the Hackathon, it was La Bulle Verte that came to challenge our students. Cyrielle Nau, Managing Director, and Marion Abbadie, Communications Manager, were present to pitch the project at the launch of this "Bullathon".
So what exactly is La Bulle Verte? It's a modular, tailor-made eco-tourism station designed around soft mobility. The aim is to promote the host site and local produce through a responsible approach. This project launched on the market in July 2020 and has already won first prize at the Tourism'Innov Atout France 2021 challenge.
Less than 72 hours — that was the time given to the five teams to present their project to the client.
Deliverables were of course expected: a communications strategy, a growth hacking plan, and a redesign of the web app tied to a gamification strategy. A fairly high bar for our Master's students, who rose to the challenge without hesitation.
On Thursday 16 September 2021, the various teams took turns presenting their proposals to the project stakeholders and Xavier Roche, campus manager of Bordeaux.
Fantastic proposals, a great deal of energy — but as with every challenge, there can only be one winner: congratulations to Lucas's team, project leader, for winning this first hackathon!
We were able to exchange a few words with him following the experience:
- Starting the year with a hackathon is quite intense — what do you think about beginning the year with such a challenge?
I think it's a really interesting idea. It helps us get back into a good rhythm and makes it easier to get to know our classmates. We discover each other's different skills, which come from very different backgrounds.
- Was this your first hackathon, or had you already had the chance to take part in this kind of event?
I had already had the chance to take part in one 2 years ago, in collaboration with ESG school, as a Web Designer.
- As project leader, can you tell us what this experience brought you?
It allowed me to strengthen my skills as a project leader, both in terms of team management and task organisation. For this year's project, it was personally satisfying to have a diverse, dynamic and complementary team, in order to best meet the client's needs.
We would once again like to thank the project stakeholders for this wonderful experience offered to our students.
