UX Designer, now there's a 2.0 profession. The core role of this professional is to ensure a satisfying virtual visit for the user.

What qualities do you need to become a UX Designer?

First of all, you need a creative spirit with artistic talent combined with technical knowledge, so you can build an interface that is both functional and respects graphic conventions that are pleasant for the user.

What is a UX Designer's salary?

First of all, it is essential to understand that the salary can vary depending on experience, company and region.

Variation by experience.

Junior UX Designers will start their careers with a salary of around €33k. And finally, a senior UX Designer may see their salary rise to as much as €55k (Source: Apec.fr – Job profile: UX designer – Accessed on 21/05/2025).

The variations in salary are explained by the tasks of UX Designers: in most cases, the senior will have to lead and manage a team, whereas the junior will be more focused on execution.

Variation by geographical location of work in France: the difference between Paris and the rest of the country

As we know, employees working in the Île-de-France region are often better paid than those in the provinces (in Aquitaine, Rhône-Alpes, Brittany, Occitanie, etc.). The variation in salary depending on the place of work can prove decisive in the salary offered by companies.

Of course, some major cities also pay their employees very well, such as Lyon, Bordeaux, etc.

It's up to you to choose your city now!

UX designer is still a rare profession and is currently one of the best-paid jobs in web design. Since there are not yet a great many professionals, they can afford to negotiate their salary to their best advantage.

Above all, don't forget that salaries in the web sector tend to increase year after year; let's hope this will be the case for UX Designers.

What does a UX designer do?

The user experience designer analyses and optimises the interactions between users and digital interfaces. Their primary mission is to create smooth, intuitive journeys on web platforms, mobile apps or software.

On a daily basis, this professional conducts behavioural studies to understand users' needs. They build prototypes, test different versions of interfaces and work hand in hand with developers and the product owner to constantly improve the experience.

Their expertise ranges from information architecture to the design of ergonomic interfaces. A UX designer might, for example, rework the navigation of an e-commerce site to make the purchasing journey easier, or simplify the interface of a banking app to make it more accessible.

What studies are needed to become a UI/UX designer?

Digital Campus offers a 3-year UX Design Bachelor's, open to students after the baccalauréat. This programme alternates theoretical courses and practical projects from the first year. The second and third years are completed on a work-study basis for optimal professional immersion.

Students wishing to deepen their skills can continue with the Lead UX Master's. This two-year programme strengthens expertise in interface design and prepares students for positions of responsibility.

Holders of a three-year degree (bac+3) in graphic design, multimedia or computer science can join the Master's directly through parallel admission. This programme guarantees the acquisition of the skills sought by digital companies.
