From 10 to 15 March 2025, Digital Campus in Rennes embraced the rhythm of responsible digital transition with the Digital Clean'up Day event. An entire week dedicated to raising awareness of recycling, the reuse of digital equipment, and the environmental impact of technology. The highlight: World Digital Cleanup Day, celebrated on 15 March.
The aim of the week: to make every student an active participant in digital sobriety. The event focused on three main pillars — reducing impact, recycling equipment, and reinventing habits — through concrete initiatives.
Cardboard recycling bins, set up throughout the Digital Campus Rennes building, gave students a place to drop off their unused devices: old phones, obsolete cables, broken keyboards… This initiative provided a genuine digital clean-up, both physically and symbolically.
By joining the World Digital Cleanup Day, the Rennes initiative aligned itself with a global movement while adding a local, student-led interpretation. That is the spirit of Digital Campus: a national network with a strong connection to local realities.
In Rennes, the week was an opportunity to bring together students from all year groups around a common cause, alongside lecturers, administrative staff, and school partners. A collective dynamic that helped create a different atmosphere on campus — more attentive, more conscious.
And while Digital Clean'up Day officially ended on 15 March, the goal is for it to leave a lasting mark on everyday digital habits. Because in a world where technology evolves at breakneck speed, pausing to reflect on its impact has become essential. And it starts, sometimes, with a simple gesture: clearing your hard drive… or dropping an old charger into a cardboard box.
